PREFACE
Inspections allow ETS personnel to formally assess key areas across the facility, including spawns, workspaces, and operational zones. These reports offer detailed insight into each location’s layout, inventory, purpose, and potential issues, while also providing constructive suggestions for improvement.
INSPECTION TYPES
ETS uses three main types of inspections: Standard, Advanced, and Anomalous, each with distinct requirements and purposes. Understanding these helps personnel select the right inspection for their assignment and meet department standards.
STANDARD INSPECTIONS
Total Points: 5 technical credits
Grading: Pass - Fail
Standard Inspections are the most common and accessible type, intended for quick evaluations of valid locations across the site. They prioritize simplicity and clarity, allowing personnel to identify and report issues without the need for formal documentation.
These inspections are submitted as text-based reports in the #inspection_reports forum channel on Discord and are graded on a Pass/Fail basis.
Expectations:
Written as a clear, text-based forum post following provided format
Includes a concise narrative of the inspection process
Contains 3-4 relevant photos of the inspected location
Should note any observed issues and provide general suggestions
Lowered expectations, but reports should still demonstrate attention to detail and effort
Standard Inspections are ideal for routine checks and are especially suited for newer members building experience.
ADVANCED INSPECTIONS
Total Points: 25 technical credits
Grading: A - F
Advanced Inspections require a detailed, structured report submitted as a Google Document that thoroughly evaluates a location’s condition and operational status. Advanced Inspections demand higher standards of clarity, accuracy, and depth compared to Standard Inspections.
These inspections are graded on an A - F scale using a rubric that assesses various report sections seen in the grading section above.
Expectations:
Submitted as a formal Google Document (template or custom)
Includes detailed inspection narrative and structured formatting
Offers clear, realistic recommendations
Demonstrates strong effort, organization, and clarity
May be completed collaboratively, with up to 3 people
Advanced Inspections require more effort and teamwork, making them ideal for experienced members looking to provide thorough evaluations.
ANOMALOUS INSPECTIONS
Total Points: 25 technical credits
Rank Restriction: Certified Advanced Technician+
Grading: A - F
Anomalous Inspections are performed exclusively by certified personnel, focusing on containment chambers and other anomalous areas. They prioritize thorough evaluation of containment, infrastructure, and safety conditions.
Anomalous Inspections are treated as advanced inspections, and are graded on an A - F scale using the same rubric.
Expectations:
Submitted as a detailed, well-organized Google Document
Includes thorough evaluations of containment, safety systems, and infrastructure conditions
May include SCP interviews documented in the report
Completed only by personnel with Containment Specialization Certification
Anomalous Inspections are critical for maintaining containment security and ensuring the site's safety.
HOW TO PERFORM AN INSPECTION
All formal inspections conducted by ETS personnel should follow a consistent process. While individual styles and approaches are welcome, the core flow of an inspection should align with the procedure outlined below.
1. Preparation
Decide which type of inspection you’ll be completing: Standard, Advanced, or Anomalous
Review the assigned area and understand the purpose of the space (e.g., control room, containment zone, office wing).
Request any needed authorization or escorts, primarily for restricted zones (see: Site Restriction Policy).
Gather basic equipment: flashlight, ladder, clipboard, or other tools relevant to your inspection.
2. Initial Walkthrough
Conduct a slow, uninterrupted pass through the area.
Focus on observing layout, cleanliness, safety, and functionality.
Take brief notes or photos of anything that immediately stands out (e.g., damage, clutter, hazards).
3. Detailed Inspection
Map out the area’s layout — note any divisions, corridors, rooms, or key access points.
Perform an inventory of equipment, storage, and other notable features.
Document any issues, including safety risks, technical malfunctions, or violations of protocol.
4. Interviews (Optional, primarily for Advanced)
Interview on-site personnel, especially if the area is their spawn or something they frequently interact with, to gather feedback on safety, functionality, and overall conditions
You may interview multiple individuals
Lore characters may be interviewed, as long as they are not SCPs
For containment inspections, certified personnel may interview SCPs to assess their experience and perception of the chamber
Requires Eta-9 authorization and escort
5. Final Sweep & Report Drafting

GRADING
Advanced Inspections are evaluated by Facilities Engineers using a detailed rubric broken into key categories, with points awarded based on the quality and completeness of each section.
Reports are scored out of 50 points, with up to 15 bonus points for extras like custom templates, layouts, or interviews. Feedback and final scores are posted directly in the forum to support improvement.
S = 50 or above points
A = 44 - 49 points
B = 38 - 43 points
C = 32 - 37 points
D = 25 - 31 points
F = 24 or below points
There are circumstances in which an inspection report may be considered invalid or voided, including:
Lack of Evidence — No images or evidence are provided;
Fabricated Content — Information is falsified, exaggerated, or written without a real inspection being conducted;
Unprofessionalism — The report includes inappropriate/explicit language, jokes, irrelevant material;
Missing Required Sections — The report lacks key sections outlined in the format, or formatting obscures readability;
Unoriginal or Misrepresented Work — Reports that are generated by AI or plagiarized from other sources or personnel;
If any of these apply to your report, the grader will mark your log with an X and create a thread outlining what needs be completed/updated to be eligible for resubmission. Department punishment may be warranted for reports that violate the Code of Conduct (e.g. AI, explicit language, etc.)
